UEFA Champions League 2020 so far

The Champions league is one of the most coveted tournaments in the world. Based primarily in Europe it is the biggest club competition in Europe, where clubs from all over Europe take part and compete for the prestigious silverware. Many managers like Jose Mouriniho have described it as difficult as the FIFA World Cup. The reason being the top clubs and players competeing in one tournament.

The qualification is based on the domestic leagues. The top three or four clubs from the top domestic league and division qualify for the champions league and the clubs placed fifth or sixth qualify for the Europa League.

The season starts with group stage where all the clubs are grouped in the pair of four and play matches in the format of league matches. After playing matches with each club in the group at home and away, the top two clubs qualify and reach the round of sixteen which is the knockout round. The teams which will face–off in the round of sixteen are determined through a draw and both the teams play two matches (two legs) at each others home and the team with maximum aggregate score qualify for the quaterfinals and then successively to semifinals and the remaining two teams play in the final. The format of the quarterfinals and the semifinals is similar to the round of sixteen.

This season the Champions league has been as exciting as it ever is.

The major favourites in the group stage coming from the the last seasons dominant teams and the first leg of round of sixteen offering some delightful footballing moments to soccer fans from around the world.
